Whole New World

Well, we're at that bitter sweet time in baby stages. The time where you really want to see them learn to crawl and sit up. Then when it happens you realize your life will never be the same. You run around making sure there are no little toys to choke on (only one scare so far), and become concerned with all the dirt and crumbs on your floor. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing her like this. It is so fun to see her getting around. She really likes it, and I'm sure soon enough she'll be catching up to everyone else! Today, she tried to play indoor golf with the other kids. I spent most of the time making sure they didn't use her head as a golf ball. Fun times!

Reston Zoo

Last week we went on a field trip to the Reston Zoo. It's a mix between a petting zoo and a regular zoo. It doesn't have a ton of big animals, but it's fun because everything is really up close. The kids got to feed food and bottles of milk to the goats, and we went on a wagon ride where we were up close and personal with an overly friendly camel. I liked it because it wan't too big and not a lot of walking. Always something that appeals to me with four little ones.

Overreaction

So, we had an exciting night here at the Brewer house. Dave and I were out on a date when we got a call from my Dad saying that we should come home because Alethea cut her hand. I asked what happened and he proceeded to tell me that her and Mikaela were performing Godspell and she lost her balance and put her hand through a window. So, we ended our date and went home. When we got home I looked at her cut. It appeared very small, but had a werid little bump. It was difficult to tell if it was just her hand or a small piece of glass. We called our good friend and he said it would better be safe than sorry. So off we went to Montgomery General Hospital. Which by the way has it's own pediatric emergency room. The whole time I'm thinking I really don't want there to be glass in her hand, but I don't want to look dumb either. Well, the doctor proceeded to tell us that it was a very superficial cut and that there was no chance of glass. In fact, it hardly even needs a bandaid. Did I mention she said very superficial. She must have said it three times! Of course, I felt totally silly. And what is Dave's reaction...he's excited to be able to make fun of me for a very long time!!

She's Trying

She's almost there. Right now her crawling looks like getting on all fours and then a belly flop. It doesn't seem to bother her. She just gets right back up and tries again. She's so cute!

Spring Cleaning and Easter Cookies

Yes, this picture is from yesterday. Last week we had weather in the 70's and now we have to dress like this. Even crazier is that it snowed today, the middle of April. I don't get it. The kids are itching to get out so Alethea took it upon herself to dress for the weather. This is the attire of choice for doing some cleaning up. Extreme, not really. Fashionable, that's debateable.
Today we decorated some Easter cookies since it was obviously too cold to go outside. Caleb didn't seem to be too disappointed!

Mr. Mark

We have this great neighbor named Mark. He is a single guy that loves his yard. My kids really like checking out what he is doing, so whenever they see him working in the yard they like to go and ask tons of questions, and "help" out. He is very patient with them and tries to explain things in terms they will understand. Not only do the girls like talking to him, but Caleb thinks he is his best bud. Whenever Caleb sees him he yells "Maaar, Maaar". His version of Mark! Sometimes I'll find Caleb on Mark's front step or sidewalk looking for him. The girls are pretty good about helping without stepping on stuff or getting in the way, but Caleb, not quite. He just walks through the garden, or flower bed, and will get a shovel and dig (I mean throw) dirt around. Mark is so great and is always reassuring me not to worry, they can't do too much damage!
