Potty Time

.....or should I say play time. This is Caleb's version of a good time. Can you tell my boy is about to turn two!!

No, that's not toilet paper. Those are all the white hand towels that are stored in that bathroom.

Apple Juice

Here is an entry that Dave put on his blog for the youth. I thought it was so funny I just copied it here....

Last night, as I was putting my two oldest girls down for bed, I was telling them of the story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well. In understanding some of the significance of this story, you have to know that Samaritans and Jews didn't like each other too much. I went on to explain in detail the point of the story in how Jesus offered the woman a water that would cause her to never thirst again…namely himself.

I asked my girls to recount the story back to me to see if they got the main points, and my 5 yr old pretty much understood it all. Then my three yr old Mikaela got this really excited look on her face when explaining to me to main point of the story.

She said, "Jesus is SOOOO powerful that he can turn apples into Jews. AND he can turn Jews back into apples!"

I was laughing pretty hard as I realized the whole time she thought I was saying that Samaritans really didn't like JUICE. Obviously, she missed some of the main points of the story!

Tummy Time

Thought Sarah could use some face time. Here she is enjoying some tummy time with a few friends.

Siblings

Oh how they love each other. It is a sweet thing to watch.

My Dear

The other morning the kids were all playing together. I looked in and found Caleb laying on the piano bench as if it were a bed. Mikaela was hovering over him and I asked what they were doing. Mikaela responded, "this is my dear".

Reading

Caleb found a new place to read...under the kitchen table.

Broken door

Yesterday Alethea and Dave got locked in the bathroom. We live in a very old house and so the parts of the house are old as well. Well, the story goes, that as they were trying to get out the door knob came off the door. Not all the way, but enough that it was not usable. I was vacuuming so of course did not hear their calls for help. Mikaela finally comes to me and says that Alethea and Dad are stuck in the bathroom. I go to check it out, and find the door knob just hanging there. I, being the mature person that I am, think this is hysterical. Why, I don't know. My first thought is, "Quick, get the camera. This will make a great post on the blog". So, off I go, leaving them still stranded. Dave, then hears the clicking of the camera. "Are you serious?", he asks. Next, he asks me to get a screwdriver. Before I get a chance, Mikaela says she will get it. I think she's going to the drawer where she knows Dave keeps an extra screwdriver. Well, not quite. She comes back with Calebs' home depot kid tool box. Adorable! Of course, I think this is even more funny, so, more pictures. Well, the screwdriver won't fit under the door for me to pass it to Dave, so he asks me to got outside to give it to him through the window. Sweet, more pictures! Needless to say, I thought this whole experience was hilarious. Dave and Alethea were just happy to get out of the bathroom.

Post Office

Last week we went on another one of our field trips. This time we went to the post office with a trip to McDonalds beforehand. The kids got to enjoy a tour of the post office and got to cancel their own letter that was then put in the mail. They had a great time.

Bank

About twice a month we go on field trips to different places in the community. There are about 13 families in this group, all homeschooling, and all with at least one child in kindergarten or first grade. That's a lot of kids! The places we go have all been so kind to us, and this last week was no exception. We went to a local bank and got to see all the behind the scenes action. We saw behind the tellers desk, the drive thru teller, inside the ATM machine (my favorite), safe deposit boxes, and the vault. To top it off, the manager gave the kids donuts (the girls favorite), juice boxes, and goody bags. I think the moms learned more than the kids did! It is always so much fun to do these trips and to be reminded we're all in this homeschooling thing together.

Injury Timeout

Last night we had another game of dodgeball. Unfortunately this time we had a few minor injuries.

Poor Innocent Bystander

Sarah was, I thought, a safe distance away from our game. Looking above her right eye, I guess I was wrong.

Great Wolf Lodge

We have found a great family getaway spot in Williamsburg. An indoor waterpark. I like to describe it as a resort for kids. It is so much fun for them, and for us. It is typically expensive, but there are times when you can get great deals. Those would be the times that we go! We usually go by ourselves, but this time we had the opportunity to go with three other families. We had such a great time. The kids as usual loved it, and each had their own degrees of bravery. It was neat to watch them all find their comfort zones and have fun playing. Can't wait until we can go again. (Sorry no pictures of Sarah. She spent most of the time safely buckled in the stroller away from the water.)
